The aircraft carries 174 passengers. That includes 12 Business Class seats and 162 Economy seats.

The added frequency will also give business travelers and connecting passengers more flexibility through Kuala Lumpur. The route links the Malaysian capital with Manila, one of the network's key regional destinations.

The Manila increase is one part of a wider regional schedule change

The filing includes additional changes across the carrier's regional network. Kuala Lumpur-Surabaya will rise from 14 to 16 weekly flights on October 25, with the route using the 737-800 and 737 MAX 8.

Other adjustments arrive later. Fukuoka becomes a daily destination from December 1, while Kuala Lumpur-Xiamen increases to five weekly flights from January 4, 2027.

The schedule expansion comes as the group adds aircraft and rebuilds capacity after post-pandemic gaps. As of June 2026, it had taken delivery of 18 737-8 aircraft and expects 11 new aircraft during 2026, including additional narrowbodies and Airbus A330-900neos.

Executives link the extra flights to a larger growth plan

Bryan Foong, chief executive officer of Airline Business at Malaysia Aviation Group, said demand had strengthened across several markets.

"Regional travel demand has accelerated across key markets. This is reflected in our ongoing network expansion, including. increased frequencies across ASEAN, South Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe to support growing connectivity."

Nasaruddin Bakar, the group's chief executive officer, is overseeing the LTBP3.0 long-term business plan. The plan targets revenue of MYR 24.6 billion (USD 5.9 billion) by 2030.

"If you're a premium airline, you have to perform like one," Nasaruddin said.

The airline has described the regional additions as part of a wider fleet modernization and recovery strategy. International passenger traffic across Malaysia Airports' hubs rose 9.3% month-on-month in July 2026, adding to the demand backdrop for more regional flying.

New aircraft are supplying capacity while fares remain under pressure

More seats will not necessarily mean lower ticket prices. The group has adjusted fares by 20% to 30% globally as fuel costs climbed from 30% to 50% of total operating expenses.

The carrier also introduced a fuel surcharge in June 2026 and lifted general fares by up to 30%. Travelers booking the new Manila departure should therefore compare the full fare, including any surcharge, rather than relying only on the base ticket price.

The 174-seat configuration places most of the added capacity in Economy. Business Class accounts for 12 seats on each aircraft.

Kuala Lumpur offers more onward connections

The fourth daily Manila service will feed into a network that has recently added or announced long-haul options. Daily Doha service restarted on July 2, 2026, while flights to Paris are scheduled to begin in March 2027.

The group also expanded its partnership with Qatar Airways on August 19, 2026. The updated arrangement includes codeshare flights to Brazil, including Sao Paulo.

Those links give passengers traveling from Manila more possible itineraries through Kuala Lumpur and beyond. The practical benefit of the additional departure will depend on how its timing connects with onward flights.

Action Item
Travelers planning a Manila trip should check departures from October 25, 2026, and compare the complete fare before booking. The additional flight belongs to the Northern Winter 2026/27 schedule.
