JetBlue Raises Checked Bag Fees Again for November Bookings

The higher charges apply to newly purchased tickets on covered routes, with the price varying by travel dates, bag number and payment timing.

At a glance

  • Holiday peak windows include November 19–30, 2026, and December 17, 2026–January 18, 2027.
  • Mosaic 1 includes one checked bag; Mosaic 2–4 include two.

JetBlue raised checked-bag charges. Tickets bought on or after November 3, 2026, now carry higher prices, including a $50 each-way rate for an advance off-peak first bag.

The schedule covers Main and EvenMore fares on flights within the United States, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean. The purchase date triggers the increase, not the travel date; tickets bought earlier keep the previous schedule.

Passengers with eligible fare or loyalty benefits may avoid some charges. Some customers still need to check the details of their itinerary.

The November increase is the second documented fee rise in 2026. The available dated sequence does not establish a third increase within the preceding year.

Paying closer to departure raises the bag price

The advance prices require payment more than 24 hours before departure. Each amount below applies per direction.

First$50$55$60$70
Second$70$75$75$85

Peak and off-peak portions of a round trip can have different charges. A second bag reaches $85 during peak travel when added within 24 hours. That is the second-bag price, not the first-bag maximum.

Earlier tickets and included-bag fares follow different rules

The increase applies to Main Base, Main, Main Flex, EvenMore Base, EvenMore and EvenMore Flex fares on the covered routes. Passengers who bought tickets before the cutoff keep the former fee schedule, and can use Manage Trips to check the amount tied to their booking.

Benefits vary by status and fare. Mosaic 1 members have one included checked bag; Mosaic 2–4 members have two. Eligible Plus and Premier cardholders keep a first-bag benefit, subject to card conditions. Some BlueFirst and Mint fares include one or two bags, while transatlantic flights use a separate fee schedule.

Eligible co-branded credit card holders and members of the airline’s loyalty program can still check bags for free. The benefit is not the same for every card, status level or fare, so confirm the allowance before paying for another bag.

The dated fee history does not establish three increases

A fee timeline at the start of 2026 lists a $35 off-peak first bag, followed by a March increase to $39. The immediate pre-November price remains unclear: the available fee history gives both $39 and $45. The airline’s published fee schedule includes an older $45 listing but does not date that schedule.

The airline points to fuel and operating expenses

The airline said it raised the charge to offset higher costs. “We're adjusting checked bag fees to help offset rising fuel and operating costs.” JetBlue added: “This helps us keep our base fares competitive while giving customers the choice to pay for a checked bag only if they need one.”

In an October 26 financial release, the carrier put summer fuel expense at $3.91 per gallon, 57% above the same period a year earlier. Those costs offer context for the increase, but the airline did not say that fuel alone determined each bag price.

Other major U.S. carriers followed the airline’s March increase. Alaska, American, Delta, Southwest and United also raised baggage charges after that round. Their earlier moves do not establish whether they will change prices again now.

Check your trip dates and benefits before adding a bag

The listed holiday peak periods are November 19–30, 2026, and December 17, 2026–January 18, 2027. An itinerary that crosses between peak and off-peak dates can have different charges in each direction.

Check the allowance attached to your fare, status or eligible card before buying a bag. If you booked earlier, review the applicable fee in Manage Trips. To get an advance rate, add the bag more than 24 hours before departure.
