Kuwait’s civil aviation authority said transit operations at Kuwait International Airport remain suspended, rejecting reports that connecting services had resumed. The restriction remains in force.

Abdullah Al-Rajhi, spokesman for the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, said the authority had not approved a restart by any airline. Officials restated the position on October 2, 2026, and October 3, 2026.

Al-Rajhi said the suspension began with attacks in the region. The authority’s latest position, as of October 5, 2026, includes no reopening timetable.

The regulator tied the restriction to passenger, aircraft and airport security. It also said any change would be announced through its approved channels.

“The decisions and instructions suspending transit operations had remained in force since attacks began in the region.”

Al-Rajhi said the authority had not coordinated with any carrier to restart transit services. He described the measures as intended “to protect passengers, aircraft and airport operations.”

The regulator acted after the airline moved to reopen bookings

Jazeera Airways had opened bookings for connecting passengers and announced plans to resume service through Terminal 5. The civil aviation authority said it had not approved that move.

The regulator took administrative measures after the airline announced the service without prior approval. It said the suspension instructions remained binding, rather than treating the airline’s announcement as authorization to restart.

The authority framed the restriction as a security measure amid regional developments. Al-Rajhi said officials introduced measures “to maintain the highest standards of security and safety for passengers, aircraft and airports in light of current regional developments and security conditions.”

That was the regulator’s stated reason for keeping the ban in place. It did not announce a date for reviewing or lifting it.

The carrier delayed its Terminal 5 transfer service and offered remedies

On September 30, 2026, the airline said its planned return of transfer and transit passengers through Jazeera Terminal 5 had been delayed until further notice at the civil aviation authority’s request. Its statement followed its reopening announcement and the regulator’s response.

Affected passengers were offered a full refund or a complimentary date change. Those were the two options the airline announced for customers whose travel plans were disrupted.

The delay applies to transfer and transit passengers using Terminal 5. The airport’s wider operations are not described as suspended; the restriction at issue is transit service.

The airline said it was working with the civil aviation authority toward eventually resuming the service. No restart date accompanied that update.

No reopening date has been announced

The regulator rejected reports that transit had resumed when it restated the suspension on October 2 and October 3. Its position remains that no airline has been authorized to restart these services.

Any revision will be announced officially through approved channels, Al-Rajhi said. Until then, the authority’s suspension remains in effect.

Passengers with affected bookings can use the refund or date-change options the carrier announced. The airline has said it is working with the regulator, but the authority has supplied no timetable for a return to transit service.
