Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on September 8, 2026, that passport holders can now travel visa-free to the Maldives, Zambia and Antigua and Barbuda. The access is already in effect.
In the notice issued through Fred Duhoe, the ministry said eligible travelers can enter those countries "without obtaining an entry visa," subject to the conditions of each agreement. Ordinary, service and diplomatic passports all qualify. The paperwork still matters.

The announcement followed Ghana’s Parliament ratification of the agreements and extends the country’s travel network across Asia, Africa and the Caribbean. It is a three-country expansion, not a single regional deal. The new waivers land in one notice.
The limits differ by destination. The Maldives allows 30 days, and Zambia allows 30 days. Antigua and Barbuda allows 90 days in one 2026 report, while another 2026 list gives 60 days for ordinary passport holders. The two reports do not line up on that country.
A separate published list puts Ghanaian ordinary passport holders at 41 countries without an entry visa in advance. It describes the total as including 28 non-ECOWAS countries and 14 other ECOWAS member states. Another 2026 tally puts Ghana at 67 destinations when visa-free entry, visa on arrival and electronic travel authorisation are combined. The counts serve different purposes. They are not the same measure.
Three destinations, three stay limits
The country-by-country split is below. Antigua and Barbuda is the only place where the reports diverge, so both figures appear in the table.

The wider list reaches beyond the three new waivers. It includes South Africa, Kenya, Mauritius, Morocco, Rwanda, Seychelles, Singapore and several Caribbean states. Those destinations sit on the same published map. So do older ECOWAS routes.
A separate 2026 report described the agreements as already taking effect across the three destinations, with the same country list and stay limits. That matches the ministry’s September notice. The timing is clear.
Ghana’s broader visa policy changed sharply on 25 May 2026, when the government introduced a new e-visa framework and replaced the earlier visa-on-arrival arrangement for some travelers. The September notice came later. The policy was already moving.
Morocco remains different from the rest of the list. Ghanaian travelers are shown as needing a free ETA online rather than a standard visa. The September list keeps that rule in place. It stays on the books.
