The tie-break time reached back to June 2, 2026 at 20:11:26 UTC. Profiles created after that point missed the cut. The department labeled the round Draw #430. It was the first permanent-residence selection under the military stream added in February 2026. The clock mattered.

Minister Lena Metlege Diab announced the category framework on February 18, 2026, when the government unveiled the year's selection categories. She said:
"By refining Express Entry to focus on the skills our communities truly need, we are strengthening our labour market, supporting provincial priorities and ensuring newcomers can contribute from day one."
The quote set the tone for the program. It was the first category round.
The category is aimed at foreign nationals serving in a recognized military abroad who already have a job offer with the Canadian Armed Forces. Doctors, nurses, and pilots appear among the key roles. That offer must be formal. A valid profile still comes first.
The route also serves foreign military members already being recruited by the Canadian Forces Recruiting Group. Profiles alone were not enough. The stream functions as a fast-track.
Department of National Defence briefing packages from 2025 showed the military still needed more people. They said the CAF enrolled 6,710 Regular Force recruits in 2024-25. The intake helped, but not enough. The staffing gap stayed open.
A tiny round landed in a busy week
The military draw came after three larger rounds in quick succession. On July 22, the department issued 5,000 invitations to French-language candidates at a CRS score of 399. On July 21, it issued 2,000 invitations to Canadian Experience Class candidates at 516. On July 20, it issued 511 invitations for the Provincial Nominee Program at 744. This one was different.
The selection also followed a January 2025 data-sharing move between immigration officials and the Department of National Defence. The step was meant to speed security screening for permanent residents. The military stream extends that approach to foreign recruits already in the pipeline. The bridge started earlier.
The long-range target remains 71,500 Regular Force members by March 31, 2029. That deadline is still ahead.
