(UZBEKISTAN) Uzbekistan’s e-visa system has become one of the fastest ways for eligible travelers to enter the country, with standard e-visa processing now averaging 2 business days and a VIP option promised in 1 hour. The application is filed on the official portal, and the same online route now covers single-entry, double-entry, and multiple-entry visas for tourism, business, private visits, and transit.
The changes matter most for travelers who want to avoid embassy appointments and long waits. Citizens of 93 countries can apply, including the United States 🇺🇸, the United Kingdom, Canada 🇨🇦, Australia, Japan, India, China, and several newer additions such as Brazil, Indonesia, and South Korea. Visa-free entry has also expanded to 15 countries for 30 days, giving some visitors no-visa access at all.
Faster online applications and shorter passport rules
The current process is built for speed. Applicants upload documents, pay online, and receive the visa by email as a PDF. No embassy visit is required. The application usually takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete, and the system accepts submissions 24/7.
A January 2026 policy update reduced the passport rule from 6 months to 3 months beyond the planned departure date. That change opened the door for more travelers whose passports were close to expiry. The photo requirement also changed. The system now accepts PNG and JPEG files up to 1MB, and the image should be a recent 35x45mm photo with a white background.
Travelers should use only the official e-visa portal. Fake sites remain a problem, and applications filed elsewhere do not count.
Visa types, fees, and how long each stay lasts
Uzbekistan offers four main e-visa options. Each has clear limits, and none allows work or study.
- Single-entry: $20, one entry, stay up to 30 days, valid for 90 days from issuance.
- Double-entry: $35, two entries, each stay up to 30 days, valid for 90 days.
- Multiple-entry ordinary: $50, unlimited entries, each stay up to 30 days, valid for 90 days.
- Multiple-entry VIP: $60, unlimited entries, each stay up to 30 days, valid for 1 year, with priority border lanes.
Fees are fixed in U.S. dollars. They are non-refundable. Payment works with Visa, Mastercard, and UnionPay. The platform does not accept PayPal or cash.

Documents to prepare before starting
Applicants need a clean scan of the passport data page and a digital photo. The passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond departure. The scan should be in color and clear enough to read every detail.

Children under 16 can be included on a parent’s e-visa, and separate applications remain optional. No notarization is needed, and mobile uploads are accepted.

What happens after submission
The online process has five steps. First, the applicant chooses English, Russian, or Uzbek, then selects the visa type and purpose. Next comes personal data, passport details, travel dates, and accommodation information. After that, the system sends an activation link by email and asks the user to complete a CAPTCHA check. The approved document should be saved on a phone and printed as backup. Border officers can accept either version, but the passport always travels with the visa.
Entry rules, registration, and border checks
The e-visa is valid at all 52 entry points, including airports, land borders, and train stations. Travelers can enter through Tashkent, Samarkand, and other major points, then stay for up to 30 days per visit. The visa itself is not extendable.
Arrival brings another rule: all foreigners must register online within 3 days using my.gov.uz. Hotels can complete the registration too, and the process is free. Major airports also use biometric checks, including fingerprints and photos, which started in November 2025.
Overstays are expensive. The penalty starts at $50 per day for the first five days, then rises to $100 per day after that. Deportation remains possible for longer violations. Travelers should leave before the permitted stay ends.

Uzbekistan widened access in several steps through early 2026. Cabinet Resolution No. 45, effective January 15, 2026, expanded the eligible country list.
