Southwest Flight Attendant Jennifer Lupton, 50, Dies at Hilton Hawaiian Village

Honolulu police opened an unattended death investigation after Southwest Airlines flight attendant Jennifer Lupton, 50, was found dead during a Hawaii layover on August 20, 2026. She had been staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort in Waikiki.

The Honolulu Police Department is investigating. Lupton’s relatives told local media they were informed that she fell from the balcony of her 24th-floor hotel room.

They also said the area contains 70 surveillance cameras. Detectives are reviewing video as part of the investigation, along with witness accounts and physical evidence.

The family has not described a final explanation for the death. Authorities have not announced one either.

Lupton was in Honolulu for work, according to relatives. They said she had spent 29 years as a flight attendant for the airline.

Lupton’s Oklahoma family is seeking answers

Lupton came from Moore, Oklahoma, and graduated from Moore High School. Her death occurred during a professional layover in Waikiki, far from her home state.

Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond said his office was in contact with Hawaii Attorney General Anne E. Lopez’s office. The contact was intended to help ensure a proper investigation.

Drummond’s office told the family that “the Lupton family deserves to have answers about this tragedy.”

The involvement connects Oklahoma officials with the ongoing Hawaii inquiry. Honolulu police continue to control the local investigation.

The medical examiner’s pending findings will address both the cause and manner of death. Those determinations can change the factual record as testing continues.
