(UNITED KINGDOM) — King Charles will disclose his personal tax bill for the first time as monarch, with the figure set for publication in the royal household’s annual financial report on Thursday, June 26, 2026.
A royal spokesperson announced the decision on Sunday, June 21, 2026. The disclosure is expected to make Charles the first UK monarch in modern times to reveal his personal tax bill.
The palace said the King previously provided information on his tax payments when he was Prince of Wales. He now intends to continue doing so in future years as monarch, extending the practice from his role as heir to the throne into his reign.
Already produced each year, the royal household’s annual financial report will serve as the vehicle for the disclosure. The monarch’s tax details will form part of that existing publication.
Charles intends to provide tax information on an ongoing basis as king, the palace confirmed. Future annual reports are expected to carry similar disclosures, establishing the monarch’s personal tax details as a recurring element of the household’s financial reporting.
When the report is published on June 26, it will mark the first time a sitting sovereign’s personal tax payments appear in the royal household’s annual financial documentation.
