Import Regulations

  • 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 100 cigarillos or 500g of tobacco. There are no information on age restrictions
  • 1L of spirits (over 25% volume of alcohol) or 2L of lighter alcohol beverages (up to 25% volume of alcohol)
  • Non-commercial amount of gifts and other items for personal use.

  • Overall medical facilities in the country are considered quite poor. Full travel and health insurance should be obtained before arranging any visit to this country and an extra medical kit containing emergency supplies is recommended. Travellers should carry a doctor’s prescription if intending to travel with prescription medicine and declare the items on the Customs Declaration Form.
  • Hepatitis A, Meningitis, Diphtheria and Anthrax are present in Uzbekistan.
  • All tap and other native water sources should be considered highly infectious and avoided where possible. Travellers should stick to bottled water and make sure that all local water is thoroughly boiled before being drunk. Cases of Diphtheria spread by contaminated Milk have been reported inside the country. Any milk based products should be checked to make sure that they have been pasteurized first before being consumed.

  • There is a general threat from international terrorism in this country with both foreign and native civilians being at risk. Travellers should exercise considerable caution when visiting commercial establishments, government facilities, and public or religious sites.
  • There has been pickpockets and muggings against foreign visitors and travellers are advised to take care of their valuables. Late night travel throughout the towns and cities alone is not advised and travellers should keep all passports and other valuable items in a safe location at all times.
  • For the visitors who intend to drive in Uzbekistan, they must ensure that they have all registration papers, including motor insurance.
  • Uzbekistan is an Islamic country and travellers should dress and behave accordingly so as to avoid causing offence and to respect local traditions if visiting during the month of Ramadan. The country has recently announced a zero tolerance policy regarding the import, possession or export of illegal drugs and any foreign offenders caught will be arrested or imprisoned if caught with any illegal materials.
