🩺 Basic Health Information for Travelers to Micronesia
- Vaccination or certification is not required unless the traveller comes from an infected area.
- Whilst local tap and other water sources are relatively safe to drink, bottled water is recommended for all travellers entering the country. All water in more remote areas is likely to be contaminated and should be thoroughly boiled first. Milk is usually pasteurised and should be considered safe to drink. Although most fish, meat, fruit and vegetables are considered safe to eat, all meat should still be thoroughly cooked and served boiling hot to be sure. Food and drink served from vendors should be approached with extreme caution.
- Certain medicines may prove difficult or expensive to obtain in this country and for more serious or complicated problems, medical evacuation (to Guam or Australia) may be required. All travellers should bring a supply of emergency medication sufficient for the duration of their visit and have appropriate insurance to cover medical evacuation by air ambulance. Emergency evacuation to a nearby country may become necessary in the event of a serious accident or illness.
🛡 Basic Security Information for Travelers to Micronesia
