  • A yellow fever vaccination is required if travelling to the country.
  • Water in the country should be considered dangerous to drink and boiled well before used. Travellers should stick to bottled water wherever possible. Swimming in pools or the sea is not advised owing to the significant risk of disease. Visitors should only swim in chlorinated water and take all necessary protection if adverse symptoms occur.
  • Food and drink sold from vendors should always be avoided for fear of infection.

Visitors should stock up on all necessary medication prior to flight which may not be obtainable in the country. Aerial evacuation to nearby countries may b required in the event of serious injury.

🛡 Basic Security Information for Travelers to Congo Republic

  • All but essential travel to the Pool region and on the countries roads as a whole should be avoided owing to the high risks of bandits and rebel violence. The overall standard of the countries road system is very poor and can become impassable during periods of heavy rain. Coupled by the danger of carjacking and thieving that can occur, travellers are strongly advice against driving and should seek alternate means of traversing the island if required.
  • Although the countries recent civil war has officially ended, rebel groups still exist in the country and conflict between them and the authorities remains a strong possibility. Travellers to the area should keep themselves informed of the current social and political climate of the region prior to their flight and to avoid any conflict that may occur whilst in the country.
  • Taking pictures of police, army and government installations is illegal and can lead to an arrest. Permission should also be obtained before taking pictures of any native people or building regardless of whether it is legal to do so or not.
